The Committee on Ethics has decided to extend its review of the matter concerning Representative Cory Mills. This decision follows a referral from the Office of Congressional Ethics, which was received by the Committee on August 29, 2024.

According to House Rule XI, clause 3(b)(8)(A), and Committee Rules 17A(b)(1)(A) and 17A(c)(1), this extension does not imply any wrongdoing or judgment regarding Representative Mills. The Committee emphasized that "the mere fact of a referral or an extension, and the mandatory disclosure of such an extension and the name of the subject of the matter, does not itself indicate that any violation has occurred, or reflect any judgment on behalf of the Committee."

The Committee plans to announce its next steps after it holds its organizational meeting and adopts new rules for the upcoming session in the 119th Congress.
