Ethics committee extends review of Representative Troy E. Nehls

On May 10, 2024, the Chairman and Ranking Member of the Committee on Ethics (Committee) issued a statement regarding Representative Troy E. Nehls. According to Committee Rule 7, they decided to release the following information:

The Committee received a referral from the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE) concerning Representative Nehls on December 11, 2023. Following House Rule XI, clause 3(b)(8)(A), and Committee Rules 17A(b)(1)(A), 17A(c)(1), and 17A(j), the Chairman and Ranking Member jointly agreed on March 26, 2024, to extend the Committee’s review of this matter. To gather additional necessary information for its review completion, the Committee will proceed under Committee Rule 18(a). The Committee emphasizes that conducting further review or mandatory disclosure of such review does not imply any violation or reflect any judgment on behalf of the Committee.

To comply with Committee Rule 7 about confidentiality and ensure fairness to all respondents while maintaining its work's integrity, the Committee will abstain from making further public statements on this matter until its initial review is complete.

In accordance with Committee Rule 17A, the OCE’s Report and Findings related to allegations against Representative Nehls are now published along with Representative Nehls’ submission to the Committee.
