What background was most represented in West Point Consolidated School District schools in 2021-22 school year?

Black students made up 78.3% of the 2,732 students enrolled in West Point Consolidated School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 5.5% decrease from the previous school year.

West Point High School had the highest enrollment in the district with 1,084 students.

A snapshot of West Point Consolidated School District schools showed 78.3% of students were Black, 15.2% were white, 0.5% were Hispanic, and 0.4% multiracial.

West Point Consolidated School District roughly covers five schools within Clay County and has a main office in West Point.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
