What background was most represented in Oktibbeha County schools in 2019-2020 school year?

Of the 5,950 students enrolled in Oktibbeha County schools in 2019-2020, 57.5% were Black or African American, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Oktibbeha County students.

This is a 0.5% decrease from the previous school year.

Starkville High School had the highest enrollment of Black or African American students in the 2019-2020 school year.

A snapshot of Oktibbeha County schools showed 57.5% students were Black or African American, 36.3% were White, 3% were Asian and 0.6% were Hispanic or Latino.

There are seven schools in Oktibbeha County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
