Discarded Boxes at the Curb | Columbus Police Department, MS

Discarded boxes at the curb can be an advertisement to thieves displaying the valuable gifts you got for Christmas.

If a thief sees several boxes at the curb after Christmas displaying new electronics or other expensive merchandise, your home may become a target for burglary.

Don’t attempt to discard all boxes at the next garbage pick-up day possibly overflowing the trash.

Discard a few items at a time. But before you do, be sure to collapse boxes and place them inside the garbage bin out of view. This will save space and decrease the visible announcement of new valuables.

What can’t be seen isn’t a temptation to thieves. Take a few extra minutes to protect your property.  -

Happy holidays
