This #TeacherTuesday, we celebrate the highest honor in #JacketFamily teaching excellence... our district Teacher of the Year. April Dill was named the SOSD 2022 Teacher of the Year at last week's Employee Awards of Excellence.
Ms. Dill is a National Board Certified Teacher in the H2S Academic House at Starkville High School. She leads the Teacher Academy career pathway at SHS to recruit and prepare students who are interested in a future career in education. Ms. Dill is a 20 year teaching veteran. She has taught in the Starkville Oktibbeha School District for 16 years.

"Teaching is an awesome responsibility. I impact the lives of the many students that I have an opportunity to serve. It's a responsibility that extends far beyond the lesson or content, and it is a responsibility that I do not take lightly. Every day in my classroom, I make it my mission to inspire, challenge, and help my students reach their fullest potential. With the knowledge that every child is unique and brings varying strengths and weaknesses, I find ways to get to know my students and to develop caring relationships. When students enter my classroom, I strive to make it a community of learners, where they feel safe, can contribute their ideas freely, and are inspired and engaged with the learning process."
