U.S. Congressman Trent Kelly announced that Halle Riddle from Booneville High School is the winner of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition for Mississippi’s First Congressional District. Riddle’s artwork, “Tunnel Vision,” created with black charcoal and white chalk, earned her this recognition.
Riddle explained her motivation: “My biggest art goal has always been to win the Congressional Competition.” Her teacher, Amelia Gardner, encouraged her to test her creative limits.
The Congressional Art Competition is an annual event that spotlights the artistic talent of high school students across the nation, with one winner selected from each district. Riddle’s piece will be on display at the U.S. Capitol for a year, and she will receive two airline tickets to attend the national awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., this summer.
Riddle is the daughter of Jim and Kami Caver and Jonathan and Amanda Riddle, and has two siblings, Jase and Mollie Anna Riddle.
