Mississippi State University’s women’s tennis team will play its final home match of the season against No. 25 South Carolina on April 9, followed by an away game at No. 1 Georgia on April 11, according to an April 8 announcement.

This week marks a significant moment for the Bulldogs as they prepare to honor graduate Alessia Tagliente during Senior Day. Tagliente has achieved notable success in her career with Mississippi State, earning multiple awards and excelling both athletically and academically.

The Bulldogs are currently ranked No. 55 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association team rankings. Three doubles pairings from Mississippi State are nationally ranked: Chiara Di Genova and Charlotte Kempenaers-Pocz at No. 11, Gianna Oboniye and Kempenaers-Pocz at No. 31, and Athina Pitta with Oboniye at No. 37.

South Carolina comes into Starkville after a recent win over Kentucky, while Mississippi State is looking to rebound from road losses to Ole Miss and LSU earlier this month. The last time these teams met, South Carolina secured a victory; however, Mississippi State’s most recent win in the series was in Columbia in 2015.

Georgia will play Alabama before hosting Mississippi State for their regular season finale. The Bulldogs have yet to record a win against Georgia in their all-time series history.
