U.S. Congressman Trent Kelly announced on Apr. 8 that Abigail Presley, a junior at Corinth High School, is the winner of the 2026 Congressional Art Competition for Mississippi’s First Congressional District.
The competition recognizes artistic talent among high school students in each congressional district. Presley’s watercolor painting, titled “Legacy,” earned her the top honor and will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year. She is taught by Jennifer LeGoff and is the daughter of Edward and Michelle Presley.
“Military service is a big part of our family’s life,” Presley said. “I appreciate this recognition for my family and my artwork.” LeGoff also commented on her student’s achievement, saying, “I could tell she was immensely talented from the first time I saw her work. She has come into her own and gained so much confidence.”
Presley will receive two airline tickets to attend a national awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., this summer as part of her prize.
Other winners include Isabella Hancock from Hernando (second place), Carley Foster from Booneville High School (third place), Hannah Horton from New Albany High School (fourth place), and Aylin Hernandez from Corinth High School along with Isaac Snodgrass from Alcorn Central High School who both placed fifth.
